19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of that year.
The win also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent saved four initial break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
